Dr Wafa Al-Jamal is a Reader in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery at the School of Pharmacy, Queen's University Belfast. Her research focuses on engineering novel nanomaterials for biomedical applications. Dr Al-Jamal's team works on developing nanomedicines for combinatory therapy and theranostic applications. Her lab also focuses on designing and developing smart (stimuli-responsive) vectors to improve gene and anticancer therapy, besides introducing new targeting approaches to enhance efficacy and to reduce the side effects of existing chemotherapeutics.
