Biography

Dr. Ayelet Lesman has acquired her education at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, where she earned her BSc in Materials Engineering and Chemistry, and her MSc and PhD in Biomedical Engineering in the lab of Prof. Shulamit Levenberg in the field of Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials focusing on engineering vascularized tissues. She conducted her Post-doctoral research at the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech) at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering in cooperation with Mechanical Engineering, with Prof. David Tirrell and Prof. Guruswami Ravichandran with a research focus on Biomechanics and specifically cell forces in 3D environments.

After a one-year period of Post-doctoral work at the Weizmann Institute in the Faculty of Biology with Prof. Benny Geiger, Dr. Lesman joined Tel Aviv University's School of Mechanical Engineering as a Senior Lecturer. Ayelet Lesman's lab is focusing on Biomechanics at the single cell and tissue level with applications in Tissue Engineering. The lab website is: http://www.lesmanlab.com/
