Biography

Pierre-Yves Pontalier is an associate Professor in Process Engineering at the laboratory of agro-industrial chemistry in the Institut National Polytechnique of Toulouse since 1998. He received his undergraduate and his PhD at Institut National Polytechnique of Nancy.

He has been working for 30 years in the field of separation processes, with a particular focus on plant fractionation and extract refining by membrane processes and chromatographic separation. He studied the condition of recovery of hemicelluloses, lignin and proteins from lignocellulosic biomass or microalgae.

He is the author of 50 peer-reviewed papers, 3 patents and 4 book chapters in the field of liquid/solid separation and has been the president of the French Society of Fluid Particle Separation (SF2P) since 2019.
