Biography

Ipsita Volety is a current PhD candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago - GEMS. As an undergraduate student, she worked in Dr. Deepak Shukla's ocular virology lab, studying the herpes simplex virus. Her pursuit targeted autophagy and apoptotic pathways looking at proteins like Akt and OPTN and their roles in mediating infection.
