Nicole Comfort

Nicole Comfort is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Environmental Health Sciences Department, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York, New York. She received her undergraduate with honors degree from Northeastern University (Boston, MA) in 2015, and a Ph.D. from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health where she currently works.

During Dr. Comfort's training she became interested in extracellular vesicles and incorporating them into environmental health research paradigms. As a predoctoral candidate, she studied extracellular vesicle microRNA as biomarkers of ambient air pollution exposure and prodromal disease under the tutelage of Dr. Andrea Baccarelli.

Ms. Comfort received a F31 Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Predoctoral Fellowship from the NIH and completed her Ph.D. in August 2021. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, she is working with Drs. Diane Re and Andrea Baccarelli studying cell-type specific extracellular vesicles in the context of various neurological disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
