Shannon Hoffman is a PhD Candidate at Princeton University in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Prior to her graduate studies, she obtained a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
Her current research focuses on engineering microbial processes to sustainably produce fuels, chemicals, and proteins independently of petroleum and animals. With the genetic tools she develops, she aims to relieve society's unsustainable dependence on fossil fuels and livestock, and pave the way for more sustainable and economic bioprocesses at the industrial level.
