The aim of the present study was to investigate the positive influence of chloroquine and artesunate on the pathological damages caused by Plasmodium berghei on vital organs of mice in an established infection. Healthy adult albino mice with average weight of 25â€‰g were used for the study. Treated group was administered orally with 100â€‰mg/kg of chloroquine and artesunate, respectively. Control animals were given water for the same period. Histological examination of the liver, spleen, lungs, and kidney revealed absence of accumulation of iron (haemosiderosis) in the liver, thickened alveolar wall, and interstitial mononuclear cells infiltration in the lungs of the artesunate group, while absence of emphysema in the lungs and megakaryoblast hyperplasia in the spleen was observed in the chloroquine group. Lymphoid hypoplasia in the chloroquine group and megakayoblast hyperplasia in the artesunate group were observed but not in the control group. Thus, the use of these drugs especially under the practice of self-medication should be prohibited in lands where they are still in use as antimalaria medicine.

Comparative Study on the Effects of Chloroquine and Artesunate on Histopathological Damages Caused by Plasmodium berghei in Four Vital Organs of Infected Albino Mice.

Le but de cette &eacute;tude &eacute;tait d&#39;&eacute;tudier l&#39;influence positive de la chloroquine et l&#39;art&eacute;sunate sur les dommages pathologiques provoqu&eacute;s par Plasmodium berghei sur des organes vitaux des souris dans une infection &eacute;tablie. Souris albinos adultes en bonne sant&eacute; avec un poids moyen de 25 g ont &eacute;t&eacute; utilis&eacute;es pour l&#39;&eacute;tude. Groupe trait&eacute; a &eacute;t&eacute; administr&eacute; par voie orale de 100 mg/kg de la chloroquine et l&#39;art&eacute;sunate, respectivement. Animaux t&eacute;moins ont re&ccedil;u de l&#39;eau pour la m&ecirc;me p&eacute;riode. L&#39;examen histologique du foie, rate, poumons et des reins a r&eacute;v&eacute;l&eacute; l&#39;absence d&#39;accumulation du fer (h&eacute;mosid&eacute;rose) dans le foie, la paroi alv&eacute;olaire &eacute;paissie et infiltration de cellules mononucl&eacute;&eacute;es interstitielles dans les poumons du groupe art&eacute;sunate, tandis que l&#39;absence d&#39;hyperplasie megakaryoblast dans la rate et de l&#39;emphys&egrave;me dans les poumons a &eacute;t&eacute; observ&eacute;e dans le groupe de la chloroquine. Hypoplasie lympho&iuml;de dans l&#39;hyperplasie de la chloroquine group et megakayoblast dans le groupe d&#39;art&eacute;sunate ont &eacute;t&eacute; observ&eacute;s, mais pas dans le groupe t&eacute;moin. Ainsi, l&#39;utilisation de ces m&eacute;dicaments en particulier conform&eacute;ment &agrave; la pratique de l&#39;autom&eacute;dication est &agrave; proscrire dans les terres o&ugrave; ils sont encore en usage comme m&eacute;dicament antipaludique.

Das Ziel der vorliegenden Studie war es, den positiven Einfluss von Chloroquin und Artesunate auf die pathologischen Sch&auml;den durch Plasmodium Berghei auf lebenswichtige Organe von M&auml;usen in einer etablierten Infektion zu untersuchen. Gesunde Erwachsene Albino-M&auml;use mit durchschnittlichen Gewicht von 25 g wurden f&uuml;r die Studie verwendet. Behandelten Gruppe wurde mit 100 mg/kg Chloroquin und Artesunate, bzw. oral verabreicht. Kontrolltiere erhielten Wasser f&uuml;r den gleichen Zeitraum. Histologische Untersuchung der Leber, Milz, Lunge und Niere ergab Fehlen der Akkumulation von Eisen (Haemosiderosis) in der Leber, verdickte Wand der alveol&auml;re und interstitielle MONONUKLE&Auml;RE Zellen Eindringen in die Lungen von der Gruppe Artesunate, w&auml;hrend der Abwesenheit von Emphysem der Lunge und Megakaryoblast Hyperplasie in der Milz in der Chloroquin-Gruppe festgestellt wurde. Lymphatischen Hypoplasie in die Chloroquin-Gruppe und Megakayoblast Hyperplasie in der Gruppe Artesunate wurden beobachtet, aber nicht in der Kontrollgruppe. Daher sollte der Konsum dieser Drogen besonders unter die Praxis der Selbstmedikation in L&auml;ndern verboten werden, wo sie noch in Betrieb achten Medizin sind.

Vergleichende Studie &uuml;ber die Wirkung von Chloroquin und Artesunate auf histopathologische Sch&auml;den durch Plasmodium Berghei in vier lebenswichtige Organe des infizierten Albino M&auml;use.

Lo scopo del presente studio era di indagare l&#39;influenza positiva della clorochina e artesunate su danni patologici causati da Plasmodium berghei su organi vitali di topi in un&#39;infezione stabilita. Per lo studio sono stati utilizzati topi Albini adulti sani con peso medio di 25 g. Gruppo trattato &egrave; stato somministrato per via orale con 100 mg/kg di clorochina e artesunate, rispettivamente. Animali di controllo erano dato acqua per lo stesso periodo. L&#39;esame istologico del fegato, milza, polmoni e rene ha rivelato assenza di accumulo di ferro (Emosiderosi) nel fegato, parete ispessita alveolare e infiltrazione di cellule mononucleate interstiziale nei polmoni del gruppo artesunate, mentre l&#39;assenza di enfisema nei polmoni e iperplasia megacarioblasto nella milza &egrave; stata osservata nel gruppo clorochina. Ipoplasia linfoide nella iperplasia di gruppo e megakayoblast clorochina nel gruppo artesunate sono stati osservati, ma non nel gruppo di controllo. Cos&igrave;, l&#39;uso di questi farmaci, soprattutto sotto la pratica dell&#39;automedicazione dovrebbe essere vietata nelle terre dove sono ancora in uso come farmaco antimalaria.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue investigar la influencia positiva de cloroquina y artesunato en los da&ntilde;os patol&oacute;gicos causados por Plasmodium berghei en &oacute;rganos vitales de los ratones en una infecci&oacute;n establecida. Se utilizaron ratones albinos adultos sanos con peso promedio de 25 g para el estudio. Grupo tratado fue administrado por v&iacute;a oral con 100 mg/kg de cloroquina y artesunato, respectivamente. Animales de control recibieron agua para el mismo per&iacute;odo. La examinaci&oacute;n histol&oacute;gica del h&iacute;gado, bazo, pulmones y ri&ntilde;ones revel&oacute; la ausencia de acumulaci&oacute;n de hierro (hemosiderosis) en el h&iacute;gado, pared alveolar espesada y la infiltraci&oacute;n de c&eacute;lulas mononucleares intersticiales en los pulmones del grupo artesunato, mientras que la ausencia de enfisema en los pulmones e hiperplasia de megakaryoblast en el bazo se observ&oacute; en el grupo de cloroquina. Hipoplasia linfoide en la hiperplasia de grupo y megakayoblast de cloroquina en el grupo de artesunato observaron pero no en el grupo control. Por lo tanto, deber&iacute;a prohibirse el uso de estos f&aacute;rmacos, especialmente bajo la pr&aacute;ctica de la automedicaci&oacute;n en tierras donde est&aacute;n todav&iacute;a en uso como medicamentos antipal&uacute;dicos.
