Oxygen, an essential nutrient, is sensed by a multiple of cellular pathways that facilitate the responses to and survival of oxygen deprivation. The Caenorhabditis elegans embryo exposed to severe oxygen deprivation (anoxia) enters a state of suspended animation in which cell cycle progression reversibly arrests at specific stages. The mechanisms regulating interphase, prophase, or metaphase arrest in response to anoxia are not completely understood. Characteristics of arrested prophase blastomeres and oocytes are the alignment of condensed chromosomes at the nuclear periphery and an arrest of nuclear envelope breakdown. Notably, anoxia-induced prophase arrest is suppressed in mutant embryos lacking nucleoporin NPP-16/NUP50 function, indicating that this nucleoporin plays an important role in prophase arrest in wild-type embryos. Although the inactive form of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK-1) is detected in wild-type-arrested prophase blastomeres, the inactive state is not detected in the anoxia exposed npp-16 mutant. Furthermore, we found that CDK-1 localizes near chromosomes in anoxia-exposed embryos. These data support the notion that NPP-16 and CDK-1 function to arrest prophase blastomeres in C. elegans embryos. The anoxia-induced shift of cells from an actively dividing state to an arrested state reveals a previously uncharacterized prophase checkpoint in the C. elegans embryo.

Le Maj induite par l&#39;anoxie des cellules d&#39;un &eacute;tat de s&eacute;paration activement &agrave; un &Eacute;tat arr&ecirc;t&eacute; r&eacute;v&egrave;le un point de contr&ocirc;le de la prophase non d&eacute;finies auparavant dans l&#39;embryon de c. elegans.

Fonction APM-16/Nup50 et inactivation de CDK-1 sont associ&eacute;s avec l&#39;arrestation de prophase induite par l&#39;anoxie chez Caenorhabditis elegans.

Sauerstoff, ein wichtiger N&auml;hrstoff, wird durch ein Vielfaches der zellularen Bahnen, die die Antworten zu erleichtern und das &Uuml;berleben der Sauerstoffentzug gemessen. Caenorhabditis Elegans Embryos ausgesetzt schweren Sauerstoffmangel (Anoxie) geht ein Status Suspended Animation, in welcher Zellzyklus Fortschreiten umkehrbar in spezifischen Stadien Verhaftungen. Die Regulierungsmechanismen Interphase, Prophase und Metaphase Verhaftung als Reaktion auf Anoxie werden nicht v&ouml;llig verstanden. Merkmale der Verhafteten Prophase Blastomeren und Eizellen sind die Ausrichtung der kondensierten Chromosomen an der nuklearen Peripherie und eine Verhaftung Kernh&uuml;lle Panne. Insbesondere wird induziert durch Anoxie Prophase Verhaftung unterdr&uuml;ckt, mutant Embryonen Nucleoporin NPP-16/NUP50 Funktion fehlt, die darauf hinweist, dass diese Nucleoporin spielt eine wichtige Rolle in der Prophase Verhaftung in Wildtyp Embryonen. Dar&uuml;ber hinaus fanden wir, dass CDK-1 in der N&auml;he von Chromosomen in Anoxie-exponierten Embryonen lokalisiert. Diese Daten unterst&uuml;tzen das Konzept, dass KKW-16 und CDK-1-Funktion, um die Prophase Blastomeren bei C. Elegans Embryos zu verhaften. Die induziert durch Anoxie Verschiebung von Zellen aus einem aktiv teilenden Staat verhaftet-Zustand zeigt einen zuvor uncharakterisiertes Prophase Pr&uuml;fpunkt in C. Elegans Embryos.

NPP-16/Nup50 Funktion und Inaktivierung der CDK-1 sind induziert durch Anoxie Prophase Verhaftung in Caenorhabditis Elegans zugeordnet.

An adaptation to stress, used by many organisms, is to reversibly enter an arrested state by reducing energy-requiring processes, such as development and cell division. This "wait it out" approach to survive stress until the environment is conductive for growth and development is used by many metazoans. Much is known about the molecular regulation of cell division, metazoan development and responses to environmental stress. However, how these biological processes intersect is less understood. Here, we review studies conducted in Caenorhabditis elegans that investigate how stresses such as oxygen deprivation (hypoxia and anoxia), exogenous chemicals or starvation affect cellular processes in the embryo, larvae or adult germline. Using C. elegans to identify how stress signals biological arrest can help in our understanding of evolutionary pressures as well as human health-related issues.

Organismos en desarrollo requieren nutrientes para apoyar la divisi&oacute;n de c&eacute;lula vital para el crecimiento y desarrollo. Una adaptaci&oacute;n al estr&eacute;s, utilizado por muchos organismos, es reversible entre en estado detenido mediante la reducci&oacute;n de procesos que requieren energ&iacute;a, tales como el desarrollo y la divisi&oacute;n celular. Este enfoque de &quot;esperar a que&quot; para sobrevivir el estr&eacute;s hasta que el ambiente es conductora para el crecimiento y desarrollo es utilizado por muchos metazoos. Se sabe mucho acerca de la regulaci&oacute;n molecular de la divisi&oacute;n celular, metazoarios desarrollo y respuestas a estr&eacute;s ambiental. Uso de C. elegans para identificar como estr&eacute;s se&ntilde;ales biol&oacute;gica detenci&oacute;n puede ayudar en nuestra comprensi&oacute;n de presiones evolutivas, as&iacute; como cuestiones relacionadas con la salud humanas.
