What are we matching on and why? A systematic review of matched study designs in shoulder arthroplasty.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was an unprecedented period that fundamentally reshaped healthcare delivery worldwide. Among the significant changes was a shift toward same-day discharge (SDD) across all surgical specialties. This study focuses on immediate alloplastic reconstruction, with the objectives to quantify the increase in SDDs, evaluate the associated safety outcomes, and investigate racial disparities resulting from these changes.

Safety and Racial Implications of Same-Day Discharge in Alloplastic Breast Reconstruction Following the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are promising treatments for facial rejuvenation, leveraging growth factors to stimulate natural tissue repair and regeneration. Despite their growing popularity, their effectiveness remains controversial, with studies yielding mixed results. This systematic review evaluates the current evidence on PRP/PRF therapies and their effect on the following 6 key parameters of facial aging: wrinkles, texture, dyschromia, elasticity, skin thickness, and hydration.

Systematic Review of Platelet-Rich Plasma and Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Facial Rejuvenation.

In light of the increasing prevalence of reverse shoulder arthroplasty, it has become clear that standard off the shelf implants provide insufficient glenoid fixation in challenging primary and revision cases. Recent advancements in computed tomography scanning, software automation tools, and additive manufacturing have paved the way for patient specific implants in difficult cases for reverse shoulder arthroplasty. This review article aims to provide an overview of the current state of patient specific implants in reverse shoulder arthroplasty, discussing their design principles, manufacturing techniques, short-term clinical outcomes, and future directions.
