The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has rapidly spread globally. Cancer patients are at a higher risk of being infected with the coronavirus and are more likely to develop severe complications, as compared to the general population. The increasing spread of COVID-19 presents challenges for the clinical care of patients with gynecological malignancies. Concerted efforts should be put into managing gynecological malignancies in an orderly manner by strictly implementing the measures that are specifically developed for controlling the spread of COVID-19. We have drafted  based on our experience on controlling COVID-19 pandemic in China. We recommend that patients with gynecological malignancies should be managed in hierarchical and individualized manners in combination with local conditions related to COVID-19. Medical care decision should be balanced between controlling COVID-19 pandemic spread and timely diagnosis and treatment for gynecologic oncology patients.

Recommendations on management of gynecological malignancies during the COVID-19 pandemic: perspectives from Chinese gynecological oncologists.

Not all individuals age at the same rate. Methods such as the 'methylation clock' are invasive, rely on expensive assays of tissue samples and infer the ageing rate by training on chronological age, which is used as a reference for prediction errors. Here, we develop models based on convoluted neural networks through training on non-invasive three-dimensional (3D) facial images of approximately 5,000 Han Chinese individuals that achieve an average difference between chronological or perceived age and predicted age of ±2.8 and 2.9 yr, respectively. We further profile blood transcriptomes from 280 individuals and infer the molecular regulators mediating the impact of lifestyle on the facial-ageing rate through a causal-inference model. These relationships have been deposited and visualized in the Human Blood Gene Expression-3D Facial Image (HuB-Fi) database. Overall, we find that humans age at different rates both in the blood and in the face, but do so coherently and with heterogeneity peaking at middle age. Our study provides an example of how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to determine the perceived age of humans as a marker of biological age, while no longer relying on prediction errors of chronological age, and to estimate the heterogeneity of ageing rates within a population.

Reward mechanism of depressive episodes in bipolar disorder: Enhanced theta power in feedback-related negativity.

Ferroptosis-related genes play an important role in the progression of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). However, the potential function of ferroptosis-related lncRNAs in LUAD has not been fully elucidated. Thus, to explore the potential role of ferroptosis-related lncRNAs in LUAD, the transcriptome RNA-seq data and corresponding clinical data of LUAD were downloaded from the TCGA dataset. Pearson correlation was used to mine ferroptosis-related lncRNAs. Differential expression and univariate Cox analysis were performed to screen prognosis related lncRNAs. A ferroptosis-related lncRNA prognostic signature (FLPS), which included six ferroptosis-related lncRNAs, was constructed by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression. Patients were divided into a high risk-score group and low risk-score group by the median risk score. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, principal component analysis (PCA), and univariate and multivariate Cox regression were performed to confirm the validity of FLPS. Enrichment analysis showed that the biological processes, pathways and markers associated with malignant tumors were more common in high-risk subgroups. There were significant differences in immune microenvironment and immune cells between high- and low-risk groups. Then, a nomogram was constructed. We further investigated the relationship between six ferroptosis-related lncRNAs and tumor microenvironment and tumor stemness. A competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was established based on the six ferroptosis-related lncRNAs. Finally, we detected the expression levels of ferroptosis-related lncRNAs in clinical samples through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction assay (qRT-PCR). In conclusion, we identified the prognostic ferroptosis-related lncRNAs in LUAD and constructed a prognostic signature which provided a new strategy for the evaluation and prediction of prognosis in LUAD.

Limited efficacy and poor prognosis are common in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). An accurate and useful nomogram helps the clinician predict the prognosis of the patients. However, there has been no previous report on the nomogram specially for predicting the overall survival (OS) of metastatic NSCLC patients.

Clinical and etiological heterogeneity have hindered our understanding of depression, thus driving the studies of major depressive disorder (MDD) subtypes. Atrial-esophageal fistula (AEF) is a rare, but high mortality, complication after catheter ablation. At present, there is no standard treatment for AEF. In this article, we introduce the treatment process of a case diagnosed with AEF and review the latest treatment progress of AEF.

Atrial-esophageal fistula after atrial fibrillation ablation: a case report and literature review.

In recent years, the incidence of prostate cancer in the male population has been increasing year by year. Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) is an important means of prostate cancer diagnosis. The accurate segmentation of the prostate in TRUS images can assist doctors in needle biopsy and surgery and is also the basis for the accurate identification of prostate cancer. Due to the asymmetric shape and blurred boundary line of the prostate in TRUS images, it is difficult to obtain accurate segmentation results with existing segmentation methods. Therefore, a prostate segmentation method called DSU-Net is proposed in this paper. This proposed method replaces the basic convolution in the U-Net model with the improved convolution combining shear transformation and deformable convolution, making the network more sensitive to border features and more suitable for prostate segmentation tasks. Experiments show that DSU-Net has higher accuracy than other existing traditional segmentation methods.

Periodontal ligament (PDL) and dental pulp (DP) share a common origin but have distinct biological and mechanical functions. To what extent the mechanoresponsive property of PDL can be attributed to its unique transcriptional profiles of cellular heterogeneity is unclear. This study aims to decipher cellular heterogeneity and distinct mechanoresponsive characteristics of odontogenic soft tissues and their underlying molecular mechanisms.

ScRNA-seq links dental fibroblasts heterogeneity with mechanoresponsiveness.

Among various nanocarriers, liposomes, and micelles are relatively mature drug delivery systems with the advantages of prolonging drug half-life, reducing toxicity, and improving efficacy. However, both have problems, such as poor stability and insufficient targeting. To further exploit the excellent properties of micelles and liposomes and avoid their shortcomings, researchers have developed new drug delivery systems by combining the two and making use of their respective advantages to achieve the goals of increasing the drug loading capacity, multiple targeting, and multiple drug delivery. The results have demonstrated that this new combination approach is a very promising delivery platform. In this paper, we review the combination strategies, preparation methods, and applications of micelles and liposomes to introduce the research progress, advantages, and challenges of composite carriers.
