Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a method for tracking glucose levels continuously or at frequent intervals, offering a dynamic view of glucose regulation beyond occasional finger-stick measurements. A small sensor placed under the skin measures glucose in interstitial fluid and transmits readings to a receiver or mobile device, allowing users to observe trends, alerts, and responses to meals, activity, sleep, and medication. In behavior research and care, CGM helps connect daily choices with physiological outcomes and can support feedback-based changes in eating, exercise, and treatment routines. Its time-based data also enables researchers to evaluate behavioral interventions and individualized strategies for glucose management.

2025

This video demonstrates the effect of continuous drug infusion into the mouse brain on blood glucose levels. Glucose metabolism is assessed by collecting blood from a fasted mouse's tail and measuring glucose levels before and after oral glucose administration. Insulin tolerance is evaluated by injecting insulin in the mouse, with glucose levels recorded at specific intervals.

Long-Term Continuous Electroencephalography Monitoring in a Rodent Pup

The video demonstrates long-term continuous electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring in rodent pups using a wireless transmitter system. The transmitter contains two recording electrodes and one reference electrode extending to the brain's surface. Upon placing the pup in a recording chamber, EEG can be continuously monitored throughout the pup's development into adulthood.
