Motor Driven Homogenizer

A motor driven homogenizer is a laboratory instrument that uses mechanical force to break down biological or chemical samples into a uniform mixture, making it important for reproducible biochemical analysis. A motor rotates blades, probes, or a rotor-stator assembly at high speed, generating shear, turbulence, and mechanical disruption that can lyse cells and disperse tissue, particles, or insoluble components throughout a liquid. In biochemistry, homogenizers prepare cell lysates, tissue extracts, emulsions, and suspensions for protein purification, enzyme assays, nucleic acid analysis, and other downstream procedures. Control of speed, processing time, temperature, and sample volume helps preserve biomolecules while achieving consistent homogenization.

Test for Homogeneity

2023

The goodness–of–fit test can be used to decide whether a population fits a given distribution, but it will not suffice to decide whether two populations follow the same unknown distribution. A different test, called the test for homogeneity, can be used to conclude whether two populations have the same distribution. To calculate the test statistic for a test for homogeneity, follow the same procedure as with the test of independence. The hypotheses for the test for homogeneity can be stated as...

Reconstituting and Characterizing Actin-Microtubule Composites with Tunable Motor-Driven Dynamics and Mechanics

This paper presents protocols for engineering and characterizing tunable three-dimensional composite networks of co-entangled actin filaments and microtubules. Composites undergo active restructuring and ballistic motion, driven by myosin II and kinesin motors, and are tuned by the relative concentrations of actin, microtubules, motor proteins, and passive crosslinkers.
