Mouse Bed Registration

Mouse bed registration is the process of aligning a mouse-support platform with an imaging or experimental coordinate system so the animal can be positioned consistently and measured reliably. It typically uses anatomical landmarks, fiducial markers, or reference images to determine the spatial relationship between the bed, the mouse, and the instrument, followed by translation, rotation, or image-based coordinate transformation. In bioengineering, this alignment supports reproducible positioning during microscopy, radiology, image-guided procedures, and longitudinal experiments. Accurate registration can improve image comparison across time points, reduce targeting errors, and help integrate anatomical data with engineered devices, computational models, and quantitative analyses.

Capillary Beds

2024

Capillary beds are networks of tiny blood vessels that play a crucial role in the circulatory system. These beds are where the exchange of gases, nutrients, and waste products occurs between the blood and surrounding tissues. Each capillary bed consists of numerous capillaries, which are the smallest blood vessels in the body, typically only one cell-thick. This thinness allows for the efficient diffusion of substances. Capillaries connect arterioles, small branches of arteries, to venules,...

Shelf Registration

2026

Shelf registration is an essential tool for companies to raise capital flexibly and efficiently. It is a provision by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that enables companies to file a single registration for securities they intend to issue over time rather than all at once. This process offers multiple advantages.Flexibility and Convenience: Shelf registration allows companies to issue securities in phases per market conditions and funding needs rather than raising all capital at...

Single and Two-phase Flow in a Packed Bed Reactor

Source: Kerry M. Dooley and Michael G. Benton, Department of Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA The goal of this experiment is to determine the magnitude of maldistribution in typical packed bed reactors in both single phase and two-phase (gas-liquid) flow and evaluate the effects of this maldistribution on pressure drop. The concepts of residence time distribution and dispersion are introduced through the use of tracers, and these concepts are related to physical...

2017

The manuscript presents a protocol for the conduction of bed-load sediment transport experiments where the moving particles are tracked by image analysis. The experimental facility, the procedures for run realization and data processing, and finally some proof-of-concept results are presented here.
