Therapeutic Peptide Attachment

Therapeutic peptide attachment is the chemical or biochemical linking of a therapeutic peptide to another molecule, carrier, drug, or material to improve its delivery, stability, targeting, or function. The process typically uses covalent conjugation through a linker or reactive functional group, although noncovalent interactions can also associate peptides with engineered systems under controlled conditions. In bioengineering, peptide attachment supports the design of targeted drug-delivery platforms, biomaterials, biosensors, and peptide-based therapeutics. By controlling attachment chemistry, site selectivity, and linker properties, researchers can influence peptide release, biological activity, circulation behavior, and interactions with cells or tissues.

A simple and general method for the synthesis of cyclic peptides using microwave irradiation is outlined. This procedure enables the synthesis of backbone cyclic peptides with a collection of different conformations while retaining the side chains and the pharmacophoric moieties., and therefore, allows to screen for the bioactive conformation.

Immunoaffinity Based Extraction of Ubiquitinylated Peptides: A Technique to Selectively Extract Ubiquitin Tagged Peptides from Purified Peptide Fractions

Techniques to dissect the mechanisms underlying the secretion of HIV-1 Nef in exosomes are described. Specific short peptides derived from Nef and protein transfection were exploited to determine the structure, function, and binding partners of Nef’s Secretion Modification Region. These procedures have general relevance in many mechanistic studies.

Attachment is vital for infant development, as warm social interactions support growth and well-being. In a classic 1958 study by Harry Harlow, the significance of warmth and comfort in forming attachments was examined. Harlow separated newborn monkeys from their mothers and provided two artificial "mothers": one made of cold wire and the other covered in soft cloth. Despite the wire mother offering food, the infant monkeys preferred the comfort of the cloth mother, demonstrating that physical...
