Ethical Considerations

Ethical considerations are the principles and standards used to evaluate whether biological research, clinical practice, and biotechnology respect living organisms, human values, and societal interests. Ethical review examines factors such as informed consent, privacy, animal welfare, risk-benefit balance, scientific integrity, and responsible use of biological materials, often through institutional oversight and established regulations. In biology, these considerations guide decisions about human subjects, animal experimentation, genetic information, reproductive technologies, and environmental interventions. Applying them helps protect participants and ecosystems, strengthen public trust, and ensure that scientific advances are conducted responsibly and equitably.
