Homogenous Cell Growth

Homogeneous cell growth is the controlled proliferation of a cell population in which cells maintain similar characteristics, growth rates, and environmental exposure. It depends on consistent culture conditions, including adequate nutrients, appropriate temperature and pH, oxygen availability, and controlled cell density, allowing cells to progress through the cell cycle and divide with limited variation. In biology, this approach supports reproducible experiments by reducing differences between samples and improving the reliability of measurements. It is useful for studying cell physiology, evaluating treatments, producing biological materials, and establishing standardized laboratory models for research and biotechnology.

Test for Homogeneity

2023

The goodness–of–fit test can be used to decide whether a population fits a given distribution, but it will not suffice to decide whether two populations follow the same unknown distribution. A different test, called the test for homogeneity, can be used to conclude whether two populations have the same distribution. To calculate the test statistic for a test for homogeneity, follow the same procedure as with the test of independence. The hypotheses for the test for homogeneity can be stated as...

Tissue Homogenization and Cell Lysis

Tissue homogenization involves disintegrating tissue architecture and lysing cells, and is an early step in isolating and analyzing cellular components. The method used for homogenization depends on the sample type, the amount of sample available, the analyte to be obtained, and the sensitivity of the method. These methods are broadly classified as mechanical and non-mechanical methods. Mechanical methods of tissue homogenization These methods rely on applying external physical force to disrupt...

Isolation of Multiple Cell Types from a Mouse Brain by Mechanical Homogenization

2025

This video demonstrates the isolation of multiple types of cells from mouse brain tissue. Tissue is first mechanically sheared using a tissue grinder in a salt solution to maintain an osmotic balance. The tissue homogenate is then subjected to density gradient centrifugation to remove cellular debris. Cells are then resuspended in a solution for further analysis.

ATP-Based Luciferase Viability Assay: A Homogenous Method to Evaluate the Growth-Inhibitory Potential of Test Agents on Tumor Organoids

2025

In this video, we demonstrate a rapid, single-addition assay to assess cell viability in patient-derived organoids upon treatment with a test agent using intracellular ATP levels as a marker for cellular metabolic activity. The intracellular ATP levels are measured using the luciferase/luciferin reaction, where the emitted light intensity indicates the cellular viability and, in turn, the test agent's growth-inhibitory potency.
