Synthetic Rna Introduction

Synthetic RNA introduction is the delivery of laboratory-produced RNA molecules into cells to direct, regulate, or measure biological activity. Researchers design a specific RNA sequence, produce it by chemical synthesis or in vitro transcription, and introduce it through methods such as lipid-based carriers or electroporation; once inside, the RNA can be translated into protein, guide gene regulation, or trigger RNA interference. This approach enables transient gene expression without altering genomic DNA and supports studies of cell function, gene regulation, vaccine development, and therapeutic design. Its controlled timing and sequence specificity also make it valuable for investigating molecular mechanisms and testing engineered biological systems.

This video presents synthetic biology and its role in bioengineering. Synthetic biology refers to the methods used to genetically modify organisms in order to make them capable of producing large quantities of a product. This product could be a protein that the cell already makes or a new protein that has been encoded in a newly-inserted DNA sequence. Here, we discuss how an organism's genetic material is modified using transformation or transfection. Then, the process is shown in the...

(2015)This video demonstrates the recovery of infectious Japanese encephalitis virus from synthetic RNA transcribed from a bacterial artificial chromosome clone. It shows how cells are electroporated with the synthetic RNA, allowing the viral genome to direct the production of new virions. The resulting plaques formed in infected cell monolayers confirm...

A highly sensitive ribozyme-based assay, applicable to high-throughput screening of chemicals targeting the unique process of RNA editing in trypanosomatid pathogens, is described in this paper. Inhibitors can be used as tools for hypothesis-driven analysis of the RNA editing process and ultimately as therapeutics.
