Forceps Scraping Method

The forceps scraping method is a simple mechanical technique for collecting cells or tissue from a biological surface, making it useful when localized sampling is needed in cancer research. Using sterile forceps, a researcher applies controlled pressure and a scraping motion to dislodge adherent material from a specimen or culture surface, after which the sample can be processed for analysis. This approach can support recovery of tumor-associated cells, epithelial material, or other localized samples for microscopy, molecular assays, and cell-based studies. Its minimal equipment requirements improve accessibility, while careful handling helps limit sample loss and unintended tissue damage.
