2-methylisoborneol Detection

2-Methylisoborneol detection is the analytical measurement of a potent earthy, musty-smelling compound in water and other environmental samples, where even low concentrations can affect drinking-water quality and aquatic monitoring. Analysts commonly isolate the volatile compound from a sample headspace or extract, separate it by gas chromatography, and identify or quantify it using mass spectrometry or another selective detector. These methods distinguish 2-methylisoborneol from related odor compounds and support source investigation, treatment evaluation, and routine quality control. Reliable detection helps researchers assess microbial odor events and guide strategies for protecting the sensory quality of water supplies.

Source: Josiah, S. S., et al. Study of the Functions and Activities of Neuronal K-Cl Co-Transporter KCC2 Using Western Blotting. J. Vis. Exp. (2022).The video demonstrates the steps for detecting and quantifying phosphorylated potassium-chloride cotransporter 2 (KCC2) protein in a cell lysate. This process involves immunoprecipitation to isolate phosphorylated KCC2 and chemiluminescence to quantify the isolated protein.
