Electronic Medical Record

An electronic medical record (EMR) is a digital, organized version of a patient’s medical chart that supports documentation, retrieval, and continuity of clinical information. Clinicians enter observations, diagnoses, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and treatment plans into a secure database, where authorized users can update or review records through controlled access. By keeping information available at the point of care, EMRs help clinicians monitor patient histories, coordinate services, reduce documentation gaps, and support clinical decision-making. They also provide structured data for quality improvement, population health analysis, and clinical research, while requiring strong attention to privacy, data quality, and interoperability.

Injectable Mesh Electronics for Stable Single-Neuron Recordings in a Mouse Brain

2025

The video demonstrates the injection of mesh electronics probes into a mouse brain for stable long-term recordings at a single-neuron level. An anesthetized mouse with an exposed skull is secured on a stereotaxic frame, and the probe's mesh device region is injected into the brain through drilled holes. The probe's input-output pads are connected to a circuit, and recordings are obtained using a data acquisition system.

Electron Carriers

2019

Electron carriers can be thought of as electron shuttles. These compounds can easily accept electrons (i.e., be reduced) or lose them (i.e., be oxidized). They play an essential role in energy production because cellular respiration is contingent on the flow of electrons. Over the many stages of cellular respiration, glucose breaks down into carbon dioxide and water. Electron carriers pick up electrons lost by glucose in these reactions, temporarily storing and releasing them into the electron...

Inhaled Medications

2025

Inhaled medications are crucial for managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. They are essential for effective treatment and control, ensuring optimal respiratory health and well-being. Inhaled medication delivers drugs directly to the lungs, providing a rapid onset of action and reducing systemic side effects compared to oral or injectable medications. Three primary types of inhalation devices are used to administer these medications: nebulizers, metered-dose inhalers...
