Vascular Stage

Vascular stage refers to a phase of a biological or clinical process in which blood vessels undergo functional or structural changes that influence tissue perfusion, inflammation, and repair. It commonly involves alterations in vascular tone, endothelial cell activity, blood flow, and vessel permeability, followed in some settings by angiogenesis or vascular remodeling. Recognizing these changes helps clinicians interpret disease progression, tissue injury, and recovery. In clinical research, vascular-stage assessment supports the diagnosis and monitoring of circulatory disorders, inflammatory conditions, and impaired healing, while informing strategies that target endothelial function, perfusion, or new blood-vessel formation.

To date, thick tissue defects are typically reconstructed by applying autologous tissue flaps or engineered tissues. In this protocol, we present a new method for engineering vascularized tissue flap bearing an autologous pedicle, to serve as a substitute to autologous flaps.

Tools used for visualizing vascular regeneration require methods for contrasting the vascular trees. This film demonstrated a delicate injection technique used to achieve optimal contrasting of the vascular trees and illustrate the potential benefits resulting from a detailed analysis of the resulting specimen using µCT and histological serial sections.

Stages of Sleep

2024

Sleep progresses through distinct stages, each characterized by specific brain wave patterns and physiological responses ranging from wakefulness to stages of non-rapid eye movement, known as non-REM, to rapid eye movement, referred to as REM. Understanding these stages helps in recognizing how sleep supports various bodily and cognitive functions. Before sleep begins, in wakefulness, the brain exhibits primarily beta waves, which are high in frequency and low in amplitude, indicating alertness...

Stages of General Anesthesia

Various sedation levels offer significant advantages in facilitating procedural interventions for patients undergoing medical or invasive surgical procedures. These levels span from anxiolysis to general anesthesia, providing a spectrum of sedative effects to cater to specific patient needs. Anxiolysis reduces anxiety and is achieved through minimal sedation, enabling patients to remain awake and responsive while feeling more at ease during the procedure. This level can benefit minor...

(2015)This video demonstrates the transplantation of a GFP-labeled donor neural tube from a stage-matched transgenic chicken embryo into a recipient embryo at the level of somites one to seven, followed by vascular labeling using a lipophilic fluorescent dye. The combined approach allows for direct...
