Ceramic Scaffolds

Ceramic scaffolds are engineered, often porous structures made from biocompatible ceramic materials to support tissue repair and regeneration. Their interconnected pores provide space for cell attachment, nutrient transport, and vascular ingrowth, while the ceramic matrix supplies mechanical support and can gradually dissolve or integrate with surrounding tissue. Engineers tailor pore size, porosity, composition, and surface architecture through methods such as additive manufacturing, molding, and sintering to match the demands of bone and other hard tissues. These scaffolds are used in regenerative medicine, implant design, and materials research, where they help connect structural performance with biological function.
