Golay Coded Transmissions

Golay coded transmissions are communication systems that use Golay error-correcting codes to protect digital data from corruption during transmission, improving reliability when channels introduce noise. In a typical binary implementation, an encoder maps each information block to a longer codeword containing structured parity symbols; the receiver calculates a syndrome and selects the nearest valid codeword, allowing the (23,12,7) Golay code to correct up to three bit errors per block. These transmissions are valuable in bandwidth- and power-limited links, including spacecraft and satellite communications, where correcting errors without retransmission can preserve data, reduce latency, and improve link performance.

lncRNA - Long Non-coding RNAs

2020

In humans, more than 80% of the genome gets transcribed. However, only around 2% of the genome codes for proteins. The remaining part produces non-coding RNAs which includes ribosomal RNAs, transfer RNAs, telomerase RNAs, and regulatory RNAs, among other types. A large number of regulatory non-coding RNAs have been classified into two groups depending upon their length – small non-coding RNAs, such as microRNA, which are less than 200 nucleotides in length, and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)...

New Methods to Study Gustatory Coding

2017

We present three new methods to study gustatory coding. Using a simple animal, the moth Manduca sexta (Manduca), we describe a dissection protocol, the use of extracellular tetrodes to record the activity of multiple gustatory receptor neurons, and a system for delivering and monitoring precisely timed pulses of tastants.

Nursing Code of Ethics

2023

The Nursing Code of Ethics sets the ethical benchmark for the profession, and guides nurses in ethical analysis and decision making at the societal, organizational, and clinical levels. The code encompasses showing compassion and respect for the patient, their families, and communities in all circumstances while committing to providing patient-centered care. In addition, the code states that nurses must advocate for the patient by defending a cause or recommendation to protect their rights,...
