Lagrangian Flow Description

Lagrangian flow description is a fluid-mechanics framework that characterizes motion by following individual fluid particles or material elements through space and time, rather than examining fixed locations. At each time, a particle’s trajectory is obtained by integrating the local velocity field, while changes in properties such as temperature, concentration, or momentum are evaluated along that path using the material derivative. In engineering, this viewpoint supports particle tracking, pollutant and sediment transport, spray and multiphase-flow analysis, and computational modeling of mixing. It links flow fields to observable trajectories, helping researchers predict residence times, dispersion, and forces on transported materials.

Eulerian and Lagrangian Flow Descriptions

2025

Fluid flow analysis is critical in many scientific and engineering disciplines, and two principal approaches are used to describe this flow: the Eulerian and Lagrangian methods. These methods offer different perspectives on monitoring and analyzing the motion of fluids, each with distinct advantages depending on the scenario. The Eulerian method focuses on fixed points in space where fluid properties, such as velocity, pressure, and temperature, are observed as the fluid moves between these...

2017

The manuscript presents a protocol for the conduction of bed-load sediment transport experiments where the moving particles are tracked by image analysis. The experimental facility, the procedures for run realization and data processing, and finally some proof-of-concept results are presented here.

Psychological and Descriptive Understanding of Ethical Decision Making

2025

Ethical decision-making is the process of aligning actions with established principles to maintain consistency in values and professional conduct. It incorporates two primary perspectives: the normative approach and the psychological approach. The normative approach defines explicit standards for ethical behavior, emphasizing principles such as honesty, fairness, and accountability. This perspective provides a clear framework for distinguishing right from wrong and ensures that actions...

Three-dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry for Turbulence Applications: Case of a Jet Flow

2016

A three-dimensional particle tracking velocimetry (3D-PTV) system based on a high-speed camera with a four-view splitter is described here. The technique is applied to a jet flow from a circular pipe in the vicinity of ten diameters downstream at Reynolds number Re ≈ 7,000.

Pleural Disorders: Types and Brief Description

2024

The pleura is a vital part of the respiratory system. It's a double-layered membrane surrounding the lungs and lining the chest cavity. The two layers of the pleura are: Visceral Pleura: This layer covers the lungs. Parietal Pleura: This layer lines the inside of the chest wall. Between the two layers — the visceral pleura lining the lungs and the parietal pleura lining the chest cavity — lies the pleural cavity, a crucial anatomical space. This cavity houses a thin layer of pleural fluid,...
