Polyp Segmentation

Polyp segmentation is the computational process of delineating polyp regions from surrounding tissue in medical images, especially endoscopic examinations, to support consistent image analysis. In engineering applications, image-segmentation algorithms typically convert visual data into pixel-level predictions by learning differences in color, texture, shape, and spatial context; deep learning models often use encoder-decoder architectures to extract features and reconstruct precise object boundaries. Accurate segmentation can help estimate polyp size and location, support computer-aided detection and characterization, and guide clinical documentation or treatment planning. It also provides annotated data and evaluation targets for developing more reliable artificial intelligence systems in gastrointestinal imaging.

2014

Vocal fold polyps can disrupt vocal fold dynamics and thus can have devastating consequences on a patient's ability to communicate. Three-dimensional flow separation induced by a wall-mounted model polyp and its impact on the wall pressure loading are examined using particle image velocimetry, skin friction line visualization, and wall pressure measurements.

Segmentation of three-dimensional data from many imaging techniques is a major bottleneck in analysis of complex biological systems. Here, we describe the use of SuRVoS Workbench to semi-automatically segment volumetric data at various length-scales using example datasets from cryo-electron tomography, cryo soft X-ray tomography, and phase contrast X-ray tomography techniques.

Market segmentation divides a diverse market into homogeneous segments with similar characteristics, needs, and behaviors. The primary goal is to enhance marketing effectiveness, and key points include: • Understanding Diverse Customer Groups: Acknowledges variations in preferences, needs, and behaviors among consumers. • Creating Homogeneous Segments: Aims to form uniform groups based on demographics, psychographics, behavior, or geography. • Targeted Marketing: Enables tailored marketing...
