Algal Physiology Tests

Algal physiology tests are laboratory methods used to measure how algae grow, photosynthesize, acquire nutrients, and respond to environmental conditions. These tests typically monitor changes in biomass, chlorophyll content, oxygen production, fluorescence, or cell viability while researchers vary factors such as light, temperature, salinity, nutrient availability, or pollutants. In environmental research, the results reveal how algal populations function under natural or disturbed conditions and help identify stress responses, productivity limits, and ecological risks. They support water-quality assessment, pollution monitoring, harmful algal bloom research, and evaluation of climate-related changes in aquatic ecosystems.
