Reflective Property

The reflective property is a geometric principle describing how a ray or line reflects from a curve or surface, with the angle of incidence equal to the angle of reflection. In conic sections, this property follows from the curve’s symmetry and tangent geometry: rays parallel to a parabola’s axis reflect through its focus, while a ray directed from one focus of an ellipse reflects toward the other. This relationship connects algebraic equations with geometric behavior and supports the design and analysis of optical instruments, acoustic spaces, satellite dishes, headlights, and other systems that direct waves or signals.

Reflective Property of Parabolas

2025

A parabola is a basic type of conic section that results from the intersection of a plane with a double-napped cone in a direction parallel to one of the cone's sides. This U-shaped curve has a distinctive reflective property: all incoming rays parallel to its axis of symmetry are directed toward a single point, known as the focus. This property is widely utilized in optical and communication technologies that require precise signal concentration. In analytic geometry, a parabola is defined as...

Reflection and Refraction

Source: Derek Wilson, Asantha Cooray, PhD, Department of Physics & Astronomy, School of Physical Sciences, University of California, Irvine, CA Light travels at different speeds depending on the material through which it is propagating. When light travels from one material to another, it will either slow down or speed up. In order to conserve energy and momentum, the light must change the direction in which it propagates. This bending of light is known as refraction. Some fraction of the...

2025

This study outlines a protocol for generating 2D monolayers of porcine organoids derived from the small and large intestines. The growth of these monolayers is marked by increasing TEER values, indicating robust epithelial integrity. Additionally, these monolayers exhibit physiological secretory responses in Ussing chamber experiments following the application of forskolin.
