Angiography Guidance

Angiography guidance is the use of medical imaging to visualize blood vessels and direct diagnostic or therapeutic procedures with greater precision. In a typical procedure, a catheter delivers contrast material into the vascular system while fluoroscopy or another imaging modality captures its movement, revealing vessel anatomy, blood flow, and abnormalities in real time. This guidance helps clinicians identify stenosis, occlusion, aneurysms, and other vascular conditions while positioning devices for interventions such as angioplasty, stent placement, or embolization. By linking anatomical visualization with catheter-based treatment, angiography guidance supports safer procedures, more accurate decisions, and improved vascular care.

This protocol describes a bioprinting methodology using an automated robotic depositing system that incorporates etched topographical guidance cues with the precision deposition of a cell bearing hydrogel bioink. The printed cells are directly delivered to the etched features and are able to sense and orientate with them.

Time-of-Flight Magnetic Resonance Angiography to Visualize Blood Vasculature

Position the patient's head inside the radiofrequency, or RF, coil of a magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, machine.Initiate the time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography or TOF MRA, a non-invasive technique for visualizing blood vessels.Select a tissue slice for imaging to visualize arteries and veins.Apply an RF pulse to excite the protons within the selected imaging slice. These protons release energy, which is detected as an MR signal.Repeated application of RF pulses saturates the MR...

Detection of Internal Carotid Artery Narrowing Using Digital Subtraction Angiography

Position a human patient with internal carotid stenosis, a condition characterized by narrowing of the internal carotid artery, on the imaging table for digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Insert an angiocatheter into the common carotid artery at the fourth cervical vertebra level. Capture a pre-contrast X-ray image to record background structures like bones and soft tissues using X-ray irradiation. Administer an iodine-based contrast medium into the carotid artery. The contrast medium...

Dynamic computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging provides additional diagnostic value in characterizing aortic endoleaks. This protocol describes a qualitative and quantitative approach using time-attenuation curve analysis to characterize endoleaks. The technique of integrating dynamic CTA imaging with fluoroscopy using 2D-3D image fusion is illustrated for better image guidance during treatment.

We describe here the use of a pH-sensitive green fluorescent protein variant, pHluorin, to study the spatio-temporal dynamics of axon guidance receptors trafficking at the cell surface. The pHluorin-tagged receptor is expressed both in cell culture and in vivo, using electroporation of the chick embryo.
