Eeg Acquisition

EEG acquisition is the process of recording the brain’s electrical activity from electrodes placed on the scalp, providing a noninvasive measure of neural function that supports clinical assessment and research. Electrodes detect small voltage changes produced by synchronized postsynaptic activity, while amplifiers increase signal strength and filters reduce artifacts from movement, muscle activity, and electrical interference before digitization. In medicine, EEG acquisition helps identify abnormal patterns associated with seizures, epilepsy, sleep disorders, and altered consciousness. Careful electrode placement, reference selection, and signal-quality monitoring are essential for producing interpretable recordings and reliable conclusions about brain activity.

EEG is a non-invasive technique that can measure brain activity. The neural activity generates electrical signals that are recorded by EEG electrodes placed on the scalp. When an individual is engaged in performing a cognitive task, brain activity changes and these changes can be recorded on the EEG graph. Therefore, it is a powerful tool for cognitive scientist aiming to better understand the neural correlates associated with different aspects of cognition, which will ultimately help them...

Non-restraining EEG Radiotelemetry: Epidural and Deep Intracerebral Stereotaxic EEG Electrode Placement

Simultaneous electroencephalography (EEG) and functional Magnetic Resonance imaging (fMRI) is a powerful neuroimaging tool. However, the inside of an MRI scanner forms a difficult environment for EEG data recording and safety must be considered whenever operating EEG equipment inside a scanner. Here, we present an optimised EEG-fMRI data acquisition protocol.
