Laparoscopic Endometriosis

Laparoscopic endometriosis refers to the minimally invasive evaluation and surgical treatment of endometriosis, a condition in which tissue resembling the uterine lining grows outside the uterus and may cause pain, inflammation, adhesions, or infertility. During laparoscopy, surgeons introduce carbon dioxide to expand the abdomen and use a camera through small incisions to identify lesions, assess disease extent, and remove or destroy abnormal tissue through excision or ablation; adhesiolysis may restore pelvic anatomy. This approach supports diagnosis and individualized management while generally reducing incision size and recovery time compared with open surgery. It is used in gynecologic medicine to relieve symptoms, address endometriosis-related anatomical changes, and guide fertility care.
