Liver Tumor Surgery

Liver tumor surgery is the operative treatment of benign or malignant growths in the liver, used to remove disease while preserving enough functioning tissue. Depending on tumor size, location, number, and liver health, surgeons may perform partial hepatectomy, tumor ablation, or, in selected cases, transplantation; resection works by isolating and removing affected tissue while protecting major blood vessels and bile ducts. These procedures can provide local disease control, relieve symptoms, and support long-term survival for appropriate patients. Surgical planning commonly integrates imaging, liver-function assessment, and multidisciplinary evaluation, linking anatomical precision with individualized care in oncology and hepatobiliary medicine.

2016

A high incidence of tumor recurrence after resection of liver metastases remains an unsolved problem. The illustrated mouse model may be useful to investigate the reasons for such recurrences. It combines a liver resection model with intrahepatic tumor cell injection for the first time.

Intraoperative Gastroscopy for Tumor Localization in Laparoscopic Surgery for Gastric Adenocarcinoma

In early gastric cancer, the aim of surgery is to precisely remove the distal stomach including the primary tumor. To do this, accurate localization of the tumor is crucial, especially in totally laparoscopic surgery. This protocol describes a procedure for intraoperative gastroscopy in totally laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy.

Targeting Liver Tumors with Oncolytic Viruses via the Hepatic Artery

The video demonstrates locoregional delivery of oncolytic viruses through hepatic arterial injection as a therapeutic approach for hepatocellular carcinoma. These viruses selectively replicate in tumor cells, inducing cell lysis and releasing tumor cell-associated antigens. This process triggers immunogenic cell death, inducing an anti-tumor response.

Generating Rabbit Liver Carcinoma Model: A Surgical Procedure to Implant Tumor Tissue in Left Lobe of Liver for Induction of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

In this video, we demonstrate the surgical implantation of tumor tissue into a rabbit liver to induce hepatocellular carcinoma. The procedure helps establish a reliable animal model to study tumor behavior and development of locoregional treatments targeting cancers of the liver.

Hepatic Angiography: A Procedure to Visualize Liver Tumor Vessels in a Rabbit Model
