Lung Function Metrics

Lung function metrics are quantitative measures of how effectively the respiratory system moves air, exchanges gases, and supports breathing, providing essential information for medical assessment. Tests such as spirometry measure airflow by recording forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume in one second, while pulse oximetry and diffusion measurements evaluate oxygen saturation and gas transfer. Clinicians use these metrics to identify obstructive or restrictive patterns, assess disease severity, monitor conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and evaluate responses to treatment. Standardized measurements also support preoperative assessment, occupational health, and longitudinal research on respiratory health.

Businesses rely on various promotional metrics to gauge the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Baseline sales represent the average sales without any promotional efforts, while incremental sales measure the increase in sales resulting from a promotion. For example, if a product typically sells 300 units and a promotion increases sales to 400 units, the incremental sales are 100. This distinction is crucial for evaluating the true impact of promotional activities. Impressions count the number...

Three-dimensional (3D) phase-resolved functional lung (PREFUL) is a functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that allows for quantification of regional ventilation of the whole human lung volume, using tidal breathing and contrast-agent free acquisition for 8 min. Here, we present an MR protocol to collect and analyze 3D PREFUL imaging data.

When interpreting marketing metrics, it is crucial to align them with specific campaign goals to ensure the metrics are relevant to the objectives. For example, a high conversion rate might be significant, but the definition of a conversion can vary—whether it is a sale, a newsletter signup, or another desired action. Aligning metrics with campaign goals ensures they directly reflect the campaign's objectives. While metrics like click-through rates and return on investment are necessary,...

Product and portfolio metrics provide the necessary insights to optimize resources and drive profitability. Weighted Contribution Margin is a crucial metric for understanding the profitability of individual products relative to their share in the product mix. Calculated by multiplying the contribution margin of each product by its proportion in the total mix, it helps companies prioritize investment in high-margin items, like luxury apparel, that dominate sales. This metric also informs...
