Markov Cohort Model

A Markov cohort model is a mathematical framework that tracks how a population moves among defined health states over repeated time cycles, helping quantify disease progression and treatment outcomes. At each cycle, the model applies transition probabilities to estimate the proportion of the cohort entering states such as remission, complications, or death, then assigns state-specific costs, utilities, or other outcomes. In medicine, these estimates support comparisons of interventions, cost-effectiveness analysis, budget planning, and long-term evaluation when clinical evidence is collected over shorter periods than the disease process.

Here we describe our detailed protocol for the preparation of single-cohort honeybee colonies – a useful tool for analyzing the role-associated worker physiology. We also describe detailed protocols for treating workers with juvenile hormone and ecdysone to evaluate the involvement of these hormones in the regulation of worker behavior and/or physiology.

Comparison of Predictive Performance of Three Lymph Node Staging Systems in Colorectal Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma Based on Machine Learning Model

This study evaluates prognostic systems for colorectal signet-ring cell carcinoma patients using machine learning models and competing risk analyses. It identifies log odds of positive lymph nodes as a superior predictor compared to pN staging, demonstrating strong predictive performance and aiding clinical decision-making through robust survival prediction tools.

Here, we present a systematic approach for developing physiologically relevant, sensitive and specific in vivo assays for interpreting variation in human pathology. Transient genetic manipulation via microinjection of WT and mutant human mRNA and morpholino (MO) antisense oligonucleotides harness the tractability of the developing zebrafish embryo to rapidly assay pathogenic mutations, especially, but not exclusively, in the context of human developmental disorders.
