Mouse Trauma Model

A mouse trauma model is an experimental system that reproduces defined aspects of injury in mice to investigate disease mechanisms, treatment responses, and recovery. Researchers create a controlled traumatic insult and monitor resulting inflammatory, vascular, metabolic, and tissue-repair responses through behavioral, physiological, and molecular measurements. These models help clarify how trauma affects organs and whole-body function, while enabling comparison of therapeutic strategies under standardized conditions. In medicine, mouse trauma models support preclinical research on injury severity, complications, rehabilitation, and drug development, although differences between mouse and human biology must be considered when interpreting results and planning clinical translation.

Pseudofracture, a reproducible murine model of sterile musculoskeletal trauma, allows for evaluation of late term post-traumatic immune responses. This article describes the procedural execution of the model step by step, including the potential for experimental model combinations to permit study of multiple trauma.

Acute Brain Trauma in Mice Followed By Longitudinal Two-photon Imaging

Acute brain trauma is a severe injury that has no adequate treatment to date. Multiphoton microscopy allows studying longitudinally the process of acute brain trauma development and probing therapeutical strategies in rodents. Two models of acute brain trauma studied with in vivo two-photon imaging of brain are demonstrated in this protocol.
