Pulmonary Allograft

A pulmonary allograft is a lung or lung tissue transplanted between genetically different individuals of the same species, most commonly to replace irreversibly damaged lungs. After transplantation, the recipient’s immune system recognizes donor antigens, particularly human leukocyte antigens, as foreign and may activate T cells that cause acute or chronic rejection. Immunosuppressive therapy, tissue matching, and close monitoring help preserve graft function while limiting infection and other complications. Pulmonary allografts are central to lung transplantation for advanced respiratory disease and provide a model for studying immune tolerance, graft injury, and long-term transplant outcomes.

The following protocol describes the methodology for the acquisition and analysis of echocardiographic images used to obtain the Left Atrial Volume (LAV), Aorta (Ao) diameter, and Pulmonary Artery (PA) diameter in mice. This technique is a non-invasive, non-terminal procedure that allows assessment of the cardiopulmonary function.

This protocol describes the isolation and dissociation of mouse medulloblastoma tissue, and subsequent allografting of the tumor cells into immunocompromised recipient mice in order to initiate secondary medulloblastoma.

Catheter-based Endovascular Angioplasty for Fibrosing Mediastinitis-associated Pulmonary Vein Stenosis

2025

Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is a life-threatening complication of fibrosing mediastinitis (FM), with a poor prognosis if not properly treated. Currently, catheter-based endovascular angioplasty is a promising therapeutic strategy for FM-associated PVS. This protocol primarily outlines a stepwise approach to the transcatheter procedure for FM-associated PVS.

Implantation of autologous and allogeneic bone grafts constitute accepted approaches to treat major craniofacial bone loss. Yet the effect of graft composition on the interplay among neovascularization, cell differentiation and bone formation is unclear. We present a multimodal imaging protocol aimed to elucidate the angiogenesis-osteogenesis interdependence at the graft proximity.
