Technology Acceptance

Technology acceptance is the process by which individuals and organizations judge, adopt, and use a new technology, a critical consideration when introducing digital tools into medicine. Models such as the Technology Acceptance Model explain adoption through perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, which shape attitudes, behavioral intentions, and subsequent use; social influence and facilitating conditions can also affect these decisions. In healthcare, acceptance research evaluates how clinicians, patients, and administrators respond to electronic health records, telemedicine, clinical decision-support systems, and mobile health applications. Understanding these factors can guide user-centered design, implementation strategies, training, and equitable access to effective medical technologies.

Hypothesis: Accept or Fail to Reject?

2023

The outcome of any hypothesis testing leads to rejecting or not rejecting the null hypothesis. This decision is taken based on the analysis of the data, an appropriate test statistic, an appropriate confidence level, the critical values, and P-values. However, when the evidence suggests that the null hypothesis cannot be rejected, is it right to say, 'Accept' the null hypothesis? There are two ways to indicate that the null hypothesis is not rejected. 'Accept' the null hypothesis and 'fail to...

Introduction to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

2025

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are standardized guidelines that govern financial accounting and reporting in the United States. These principles ensure that companies prepare financial statements clearly and consistently. GAAP originated from both private sector efforts and government regulation, especially after the 1930s economic crisis. The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) now serves as the primary authority for its development.GAAP is built on key characteristics...

Total Factor Productivity (TFP) measures the efficiency with which inputs are transformed into outputs in production. It is the essence of economic growth, driven by technological advancement. Consider the agricultural sector, where production requires vast amounts of human labor and work animals. Today, modern farm machinery and agriculture technologies have revolutionized how we cultivate crops and produce food much more efficiently. TP = A*f(K, L) TFP is represented as a multiplier 'A' in...

Hybridoma Technology

Hybridoma technology is used for the large-scale production of monoclonal antibodies. Monoclonal antibodies bind to only a single antigenic determinant or epitope. Such antibodies are used in research, diagnostics, and disease therapy. The hybridoma technology established in 1975 by Georges Köhler and Cesar Milstein was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1984 for revolutionizing research and therapy. Hybridoma Selection Commonly used fusion techniques — electroporation, polyethylene glycol...

2008

The advent of site-specific recombinase (SSR) technology and the Cre/lox system has led to numerous advances in molecular biology, and has proven itself as a valuable tool for assessing gene function in transgenic animals. This interview discusses the mechanism of site specific recombination by Cyclization recombinase (Cre) and how the use of this enzyme has led to the development of conditional mutagenesis, which has significant advantages over traditional knock out strategies.
