Vessel Decompression

Vessel decompression is a medical or surgical approach that relieves abnormal pressure on a blood vessel to restore or protect normal circulation. By removing, repositioning, or releasing tissue that compresses the vessel, the procedure can improve blood flow, reduce venous congestion, and limit pressure-related injury to surrounding structures. Its use depends on the affected vessel and cause of compression, which may include scar tissue, an anatomical structure, swelling, or a nearby mass. Vessel decompression is therefore relevant to managing vascular obstruction, supporting tissue perfusion, and preventing complications associated with impaired circulation.

There are many available options for management of the patient with trigeminal neuralgia. Microvascular decompression, while the most invasive of all options, is also the most effective at achieving long term remission of symptoms. Video instruction on how to maximize efficacy and minimize complications with this procedure is described.

Stability of Floating Vessels

2023

Source: Alexander S Rattner and Kevin Rao Li Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA The objective of this experiment is to demonstrate the phenomenon of stability of floating vessels - the ability to self-right when rolled over to the side by some external force. Careful design of hull shapes and internal mass distribution enables seagoing vessels to be stable with low drafts (submerged depth of hull), improving vessel...
