Forceps Pinching

Forceps pinching is an experimental technique that applies controlled mechanical pressure to tissue or an appendage to evoke and measure a neural response. The pinch deforms sensory structures, activating mechanosensitive and nociceptive neurons whose signals travel through peripheral nerves to the central nervous system, where they produce reflexive or behavioral responses. In neuroscience, researchers use this approach to assess sensory thresholds, pain-related processing, nerve function, and recovery after injury. Comparing responses across experimental groups can reveal how drugs, genetic changes, neural lesions, or rehabilitation alter somatosensory signaling and help clarify the mechanisms underlying mechanical sensation and nociception.

Pinching-off of Coated Vesicles

2023

Vesicle budding is orchestrated by distinct cytosolic proteins such as adaptor proteins, coat proteins, and GTPases. To initiate vesicle budding, membrane-bending proteins containing crescent-shaped BAR domains bind to the lipid heads in the bilayer and distort the membrane to form a protein-coated vesicle bud. Adaptors proteins such as AP2 for clathrin-coated vesicles can nucleate on the deformed membrane. Finally, coat proteins such as clathrin or COPI and COPII assemble into a coat forming...
