Offline Eeg Analysis

Offline EEG analysis is the computational examination of electroencephalography (EEG) recordings after data acquisition, allowing researchers to characterize brain electrical activity without requiring real-time processing. The process typically converts scalp voltage signals into interpretable measures through preprocessing steps such as referencing, filtering, artifact rejection, and epoching, followed by time-domain, frequency-domain, or time-frequency analysis. In neuroscience, these methods help quantify event-related potentials, oscillations, connectivity, and changes associated with perception, cognition, sleep, or neurological disorders. Because analyses can be repeated with adjusted parameters and validated across participants, offline EEG analysis supports rigorous hypothesis testing, reproducible workflows, and development of clinically relevant biomarkers.

Electro-encephalography (EEG)

EEG is a non-invasive technique that can measure brain activity. The neural activity generates electrical signals that are recorded by EEG electrodes placed on the scalp. When an individual is engaged in performing a cognitive task, brain activity changes and these changes can be recorded on the EEG graph. Therefore, it is a powerful tool for cognitive scientist aiming to better understand the neural correlates associated with different aspects of cognition, which will ultimately help them...
