Actual Self

Actual self is a person’s cognitive representation of the attributes they believe they currently possess, making it a central concept in psychological theories of self and identity. In self-discrepancy theory, people compare this self-guide with ideal standards, which describe desired attributes, and ought standards, which reflect duties or responsibilities; perceived gaps can shape emotional responses and motivation. Researchers use the concept to study self-esteem, identity development, goal pursuit, and emotional well-being. Understanding actual-self discrepancies can clarify why individuals experience satisfaction, disappointment, guilt, or anxiety and how they regulate behavior to reduce perceived gaps.

Reaction Yield

2020

The theoretical yield of a reaction is the amount of product estimated to form based on the stoichiometry of the balanced chemical equation. The theoretical yield assumes the complete conversion of the limiting reactant into the desired product. The amount of product that is obtained by performing the reaction is called the actual yield, and it may be less than or (very rarely) equal to the theoretical yield. Percent Yield In the case of chemical reactions, the actual yield of the product is...
