Accessory Organs

Zus&#xE4;tzliche Verdauungsorgane scheiden Enzyme und andere Substanzen in den prim&#xE4;ren Verdauungstrakt aus, um die Verdauung zu erleichtern.
 Die erste davon sind die Speicheldr&#xFC;sen im Mund, die Amylase absondern.
 Diese Enzyme starten den Abbau von St&#xE4;rken und anderen Kohlenhydraten.
 Die verbleibenden Organe scheiden Verdauungsenzyme in den Zw&#xF6;lffingerdarm aus, wo der gr&#xF6;&#xDF;te Teil der Verdauung stattfindet.
 Leber und Gallenblase verteilen gemeinsam Galle, eine von der Leber produzierte Substanz, die von der Gallenblase gespeichert und freigesetzt wird.
 Galle ist eine Mischung aus Wasser, Gallensalzen, Cholesterin und Bilirubin, einem Abfallprodukt des H&#xE4;moglobinabbaus.
 Gallensalze sind sowohl hydrophob als auch hydrophil, wodurch gro&#xDF;e Fettk&#xFC;gelchen in kleinere emulgiert werden k&#xF6;nnen.

 Amylase, die Kohlenhydrate verdaut, wird auch von der Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se freigesetzt.
 Schlie&#xDF;lich sondert die Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se Bikarbonat im Zw&#xF6;lffingerdarm ab, um den Speisebrei, eine Mischung aus Nahrung und Magens&#xE4;ure, zu neutralisieren und den Darm vor &#xDC;bers&#xE4;uerung zu sch&#xFC;tzen.

Akzessorische Organe sind Organe, die an der Verdauung der Nahrung beteiligt sind, jedoch im Gegensatz zu Mund, Magen oder Darm nicht direkt mit ihr in Kontakt kommen. Akzessorische Organe geben Verdauungssekrete in den Verdauungstrakt ab, um den Abbau der Nahrung zu erleichtern.
Speicheldr&#xFC;sen
Speicheldr&#xFC;sen sondern Speichel ab&#x2014;eine komplexe Fl&#xFC;ssigkeit, die unter anderem Wasser, Schleim und Amylase enth&#xE4;lt. Amylase ist ein Verdauungsenzym, das bereits mit dem Abbau von St&#xE4;rke und anderen Kohlenhydraten beginnt, bevor diese den Magen erreichen.
Leber, Gallenblase und Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se
Leber, Gallenblase und Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se sind die weiteren an der Verdauung beteiligten akzessorischen Organe. Leber und Gallenblase geben Galle ab, w&#xE4;hrend die Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se &#xFC;ber den Pankreasgang in den Zw&#xF6;lffingerdarm Verdauungsenzyme sezerniert. Leber und Gallenblase geben gemeinsam Galle ab in den Zw&#xF6;lffingerdarm. Die Leber produziert Galle, diese wird jedoch in der Gallenblase gespeichert, damit sie bei Bedarf abgegeben werden kann.
Galle ist ein Gemisch aus Wasser, Gallensalzen, Cholesterin und Bilirubin. Gallensalze besitzen hydrophobe Bereiche und hydrophile Bereiche, wodurch sie sowohl mit Fetten als auch mit Wasser interagieren k&#xF6;nnen. Dadurch zerteilen sie gro&#xDF;e Fetttr&#xF6;pfchen in kleinere&#x2014;ein Vorgang, der als Emulgierung bezeichnet wird. Bilirubin ist ein Abfallprodukt, das entsteht, wenn die Leber H&#xE4;moglobin abbaut aus roten Blutk&#xF6;rperchen. Globin und Eisen werden wiederverwertet, w&#xE4;hrend das H&#xE4;m in Bilirubin umgewandelt und mit der Galle ausgeschieden wird. Bilirubin ist daf&#xFC;r verantwortlich, dass der Stuhl seine braune Farbe erh&#xE4;lt.
Gallensteine sind Ansammlungen von Gallenbestandteilen, die sich in der Gallenblase oder den damit verbundenen Galleng&#xE4;ngen bilden. Cholesterinsteine bestehen &#xFC;berwiegend aus dem in der Galle enthaltenen Cholesterin. Pigmentsteine entstehen aus Bilirubin. Die meisten Steine bilden sich unbemerkt; wenn jedoch ein Stein im Gallengang stecken bleibt, k&#xF6;nnen schwere Symptome auftreten, beispielsweise eine Entz&#xFC;ndung der Gallenblase oder der Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se, Fieber, Erbrechen und Gelbsucht. Eine Cholezystektomie&#x2014;die Entfernung der Gallenblase&#x2014;ist die prim&#xE4;re Behandlung, und ihre Entfernung hat nur minimale Langzeitnebenwirkungen.
Bauchspeicheldr&#xFC;se

Digestive glands and accessory organs help break down food even though food does not pass through them. They add enzymes and other fluids to the digestive tract to support digestion.

The salivary glands release saliva, a fluid that contains water, mucus, and amylase. Amylase is a digestive enzyme that starts breaking down starches and other carbohydrates before food reaches the stomach.

The liver, gallbladder, and pancreas also support digestion. They send their secretions into the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine, through channels called the biliary tree. The liver makes bile, and the gallbladder stores it until it is needed.

Bile is made of water, bile salts, cholesterol, and bilirubin. Bile salts have both hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions, so they can interact with fat and water. This lets bile emulsify large fat globules into smaller droplets. Bilirubin is a waste product that forms when the liver breaks down hemoglobin from red blood cells. The globin is recycled, and the heme, which contains iron, leaves the body in bile. Bilirubin also gives feces its brown color.

Gallstones are bile masses that can form in the gallbladder or in nearby bile ducts. Cholesterol stones are made mostly of cholesterol from bile, while pigment stones contain bilirubin. Many stones cause no symptoms, but a stone that blocks a bile duct can lead to serious problems such as gallbladder or pancreas inflammation, fever, vomiting, and jaundice. The main treatment is cholecystectomy, which is the removal of the gallbladder, and it usually has few long-term side effects.

The pancreas releases several enzymes into the small intestine. Lipase breaks smaller fat droplets into fatty acids and triglycerides. Trypsin and chymotrypsin break proteins into peptides, and carboxypeptidase breaks those peptides into individual amino acids. The pancreas also releases amylase to digest any remaining carbohydrates.
