Nomenclature of Secondary and Tertiary Amines

Sekundäre und tertiäre Amine können symmetrisch mit identischen Alkylgruppen sein, die an das Stickstoffatom gebunden sind, oder unsymmetrisch, wenn mehr als eine Art von Alkylgruppe vorhanden ist.
In der gängigen Nomenklatur werden sekundäre und tertiäre Amine als Alkylamine bezeichnet. Für symmetrische Amine werden Präfixe, Di- und Tri- verwendet. Bei unsymmetrischen Aminen werden einzelne Substituenten identifiziert und alphabetisch aufgelistet.
In der IUPAC-Nomenklatur werden die Amine als N-Alkylalkanamine bezeichnet.
Um den IUPAC-Namen zuzuweisen, identifizieren Sie die Alkylgruppen, die an das Stickstoffatom gebunden sind. Wählen Sie als Nächstes die längste Kette als Elternteil aus, während die anderen Alkylgruppen als Substituenten aufgeführt werden.
Nummerieren Sie nun die übergeordnete Kette, indem Sie dem Kohlenstoffatom, das Stickstoff trägt, die niedrigste Nummer zuweisen.
Weisen Sie jedem Substituenten Lokanten zu. Der Buchstabe N wird als Lokant für die Alkylgruppen verwendet, die an das Stickstoffatom gebunden sind.

Die sekundären und tertiären Amine sind Derivate des Ammoniaks, bei denen zwei bzw. drei seiner Wasserstoffatome durch Alkylgruppen ersetzt sind. Sekundäre und tertiäre Amine können symmetrisch sein, wenn identische Alkylgruppen an das Stickstoffatom gebunden sind, oder unsymmetrisch, wenn mehr als eine Art von Alkylgruppe vorhanden ist. Die Standardnomenklatur der sekundären und tertiären Amine ähnelt den Bezeichnungen für die primären Amine. Sie werden im Allgemeinen als Alkylamine bezeichnet. Wie in Abbildung 1 dargestellt, werden für symmetrische sekundäre und tertiäre Amine die Präfixe di- bzw. tri- verwendet. Bei unsymmetrischen Aminen hingegen werden die einzelnen Substituenten identifiziert und alphabetisch aufgelistet.

In der IUPAC-Nomenklatur werden die sekundären und tertiären Amine als N-Alkylalkanamine bezeichnet. Der IUPAC-Name für eine Struktur wird nach folgendem Protokoll vergeben:

<ol>
	<li>Zunächst werden die an das Stickstoffatom gebundenen Alkylgruppen identifiziert.</li>
	<li>Anschließend wird die längste Kette als Stammkette ausgewählt, während die anderen Alkylgruppen als Substituenten aufgeführt werden. Bei der Nummerierung der Stammkohlenwasserstoffkette weisen Sie dem Kohlenstoffatom, das das Stickstoffatom trägt, die niedrigste Nummer zu.</li>
	<li>Weisen Sie dann den einzelnen Substituenten Lokanten zu. Verwenden Sie den Buchstaben N als Lokant für die an das Stickstoffatom gebundenen Alkylgruppen.</li>
	<li>Schließlich geben Sie die Konfiguration des chiralen Zentrums am Anfang des Namens an, sofern vorhanden.</li>

Die IUPAC-Namen für quaternäre Ammoniumionen werden als sekundäre und tertiäre Amine vergeben. Das Suffix -amin wird jedoch durch -ammonium ersetzt, gefolgt von der Bezeichnung des Gegenions, wie in Abbildung 3 dargestellt.

naming secondary, tertiary, and quaternary amines

Secondary and tertiary amines are ammonia derivatives with two or three hydrogen atoms replaced by alkyl groups. They may be symmetrical, with the same alkyl groups attached to nitrogen, or unsymmetrical, with more than one kind of alkyl group present.

These compounds are often named as alkylamines in standard naming. For symmetrical secondary and tertiary amines, the prefixes di- and tri- are used. For unsymmetrical amines, each substituent is named and listed in alphabetical order.

IUPAC naming uses the form N-alkylalkanamine for secondary and tertiary amines. To build the name, first identify the alkyl groups attached to nitrogen. Then choose the longest chain as the parent and number it so the carbon bonded to nitrogen gets the lowest possible number.

Next, assign locants to the substituents. Use the letter N to show alkyl groups attached directly to the nitrogen atom. If a chiral center is present, write its configuration at the beginning of the name.

Quaternary ammonium ions are named in a similar way. The suffix -amine is replaced with -ammonium, and the counterion is added to the name.
