Motional Emf

Stellen Sie sich einen leitenden Stab der Länge L vor, der sich mit einer konstanten Geschwindigkeit v im Magnetfeld B bewegt, das in die Ebene des Bildschirms zeigt.
Die magnetische Kraft, die auf eine positive Ladung innerhalb eines leitenden Stabes wirkt, ist nach oben gerichtet, was dazu führt, dass sich an beiden Enden des Stabes entgegengesetzte Ladungen ansammeln. Dadurch entsteht ein elektrisches Feld in Abwärtsrichtung.
Die Ladungen sammeln sich so lange an, bis die elektrische Kraft groß genug ist, um die magnetische Kraft auszugleichen. Die Potentialdifferenz über den Stab ist so lange vorhanden, wie er sich bewegt.
Bildet dieser Stab mit einem stationären U-förmigen Leiter eine geschlossene Leiterschleife, verteilen sich die freien Ladungen aus dem Stab entlang der Schleife um. Dadurch wird ein Strom im geschlossenen Regelkreis erzeugt, und der bewegliche Stab erzeugt eine bewegungselektromotorische Kraft, die als Bewegungs-EMK bekannt ist.
Hier ist der magnetische Fluss, der durch den geschlossenen Regelkreis fließt, gleich dem Magnetfeld multipliziert mit der Fläche der Schleife. Nach dem Faradayschen Gesetz ist die Änderungsrate des magnetischen Flusses gleich der Größe der Bewegungs-EMK.

Der magnetische Fluss hängt von drei Faktoren ab: der Stärke des magnetischen Feldes, der Fläche, durch die die Feldlinien verlaufen, und der Orientierung des Feldes in Bezug auf die Oberfläche. Wenn sich eine dieser Größen ändert, tritt eine entsprechende Änderung des magnetischen Flusses auf. Ändert sich die Fläche, durch die die magnetischen Feldlinien verlaufen, ändert sich auch der magnetische Fluss. Diese Veränderung der Fläche kann auf zwei Arten erfolgen: Der Fluss durch die rechteckige Schleife nimmt zu, wenn sie sich in das Magnetfeld bewegt, oder der magnetische Fluss durch die rotierende Spule ändert sich.

Bewegt sich ein leitender Stab durch ein magnetisches Feld senkrecht zur Bewegung des Stabes, entsteht eine induzierte Spannung im Stab. Diese induzierte Spannung erzeugt einen induzierten Strom, wenn der leitende Stab zusammen mit einem U-förmigen Leiter einen geschlossenen Stromkreis bildet. Die Größe und Richtung der induzierten Spannung können mit Hilfe des Faradays-Gesetzes und des Lenzschen Gesetzes bestimmt werden. In solchen Systemen fordert das Energieerhaltungsgesetz, dass die durch die Bewegung des Stabes gelieferte Leistung und die aufgrund des induzierten Stroms abgegebene Leistung gleich sind.

Dieses Prinzip kann bei einem Schienengewehr beobachtet werden. Bei einem Schienengewehr wird der leitende Stab durch ein Projektil oder eine Waffe ersetzt, das abgefeuert werden soll. In dieser Art von Gewehr wird das optimale Ausschalten / Absenken des magnetischen Feldes zwischen den Schienen erreicht, indem der Fluss verringert wird. Dadurch fließt ein Strom in den Stab, der das Projektil hält. Dieser Strom, der durch den Anker fließt, erfährt eine magnetische Kraft und wird nach vorne getrieben. Schienengewehre sind jedoch aufgrund der hohen Produktionskosten und hohen Ströme nicht weit in der Militärtechnik verbreitet.

Induced current from changing magnetic flux depends on how a magnetic field interacts with an area. Magnetic flux changes when the field strength changes, when the area it passes through changes, or when the field turns relative to the surface. When any of these factors vary, the magnetic flux also varies.

A change in area can happen in two common ways. The flux through a rectangular loop increases as the loop moves into a magnetic field. The magnetic flux through a rotating coil also changes as the coil turns. These changes can create an emf, or electromotive force, in a conductor.

If a conducting rod moves through a magnetic field and its motion is perpendicular to the rod, an emf is induced in the rod. That induced emf can produce an induced current when the rod is part of a closed loop with a U-shaped conductor. Faraday's law and Lenz's law are used to determine the size and direction of the induced emf.

These systems also show conservation of energy. The power from the rod's motion equals the power lost as heat from the induced current. The same idea appears in a rail gun, where the conducting rod is replaced by a projectile or weapon. When the magnetic field is shut off or ramped down, the flux between the rails decreases, current flows in the rod holding the projectile, and the armature feels a magnetic force that pushes it forward. Rail guns are not widely used in the military because they are expensive to build and require very high currents.
