3d Object Mesh

A 3D object mesh is a geometric representation of a shape built from interconnected vertices, edges, and polygonal faces, providing the structural basis for digital objects and their behavior in virtual environments. Mesh geometry determines how an object can be positioned, deformed, shaded, and physically simulated, while topology controls how forces, motion, and surface changes propagate across its form. In computer animation, robotics, virtual reality, and physics-based modeling, meshes support behaviors such as bending, collision, and interaction with other objects. Well-designed topology improves realism, computational efficiency, and the reliability of simulations involving moving or deformable objects.

We describe a novel methodology for creating naturalistic 3-D objects and object categories with precisely defined feature variations. We use simulations of the biological processes of morphogenesis and phylogenesis to create novel, naturalistic virtual 3-D objects and object categories that can then be rendered as visual images or haptic objects.

Mesh Analysis

2024

Mesh analysis is a valuable method for simplifying circuit analysis using mesh currents as key circuit variables. Unlike nodal analysis, which focuses on determining unknown voltages, mesh analysis applies Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) to find unknown currents within a circuit. This method is particularly convenient in reducing the number of simultaneous equations that need to be solved. A fundamental concept in mesh analysis is the definition of meshes and mesh currents. A mesh is a closed...
