Electromyographic Activity Recording

Electromyographic Activity Recording is a method for measuring the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles, providing an objective indicator of muscle activation during behavior. Surface or inserted electrodes detect voltage changes generated when motor neurons stimulate muscle fibers, and the recorded electromyogram reflects the timing and relative intensity of contraction. In behavioral research, these signals help relate muscle activity to movement, posture, facial expression, vocalization, and other motor responses. Comparing electromyographic patterns across tasks or conditions can reveal how organisms coordinate actions, respond to stimuli, and express behavior, while supporting research in neuroscience, physiology, psychology, and human movement.
