Scarcity Appeals

Scarcity appeals are persuasive messages that emphasize a product, opportunity, or resource as limited in quantity or availability, often shaping judgments and behavior. By signaling that access may soon disappear, they can increase perceived value, heighten attention, and create urgency; this response may also reflect psychological reactance, in which people value an option more when their freedom to obtain it seems restricted. In behavioral research, scarcity appeals help explain responses to limited-time offers, exclusive products, and competitive opportunities. Studying these effects informs marketing, consumer decision-making, public communication, and ethical evaluation of tactics that may encourage rapid or less deliberate choices.

Water plays a significant role in the life cycle of plants. However, insufficient or excess of water can be detrimental and pose a serious threat to plants. Under normal conditions, water taken up by the plant evaporates from leaves and other parts in a process called transpiration. In times of drought stress, water that evaporates by transpiration far exceeds the water absorbed from the soil, causing plants to wilt. The general plant response to drought stress is the synthesis of hormone...
