Lanthanide-based Stains

Lanthanide-based stains are analytical labels that use lanthanide ions or lanthanide-containing complexes to visualize biomolecules, often with highly sensitive fluorescence. In biochemistry, europium and terbium complexes can associate with separated proteins or other target molecules and produce long-lived luminescence after excitation, enabling time-resolved detection that minimizes short-lived background signals. These stains support protein analysis following gel electrophoresis, biochemical assays, and fluorescence-based detection workflows. Their strong signals, narrow emission bands, and reduced background can improve sensitivity and selectivity, making lanthanide-based labeling useful in proteomics, molecular diagnostics, and quantitative studies of biomolecular interactions.
