Myc-tagged Peptide

A Myc-tagged peptide is a short peptide engineered or synthesized with the c-Myc epitope, most commonly EQKLISEEDL, to provide a recognizable handle for biochemical detection and analysis. The tag works because anti-Myc antibodies bind the epitope with high selectivity, allowing the peptide or a Myc-tagged protein to be captured, visualized, or measured in assays such as immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation. In biochemistry, Myc-tagged peptides support studies of protein expression, localization, stability, and molecular interactions, while offering a standardized alternative when a native protein lacks a suitable antibody or detectable label.

Here, we describe a technique to isolate the side population cells from a zebrafish model of myc-induced T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). This side population assay is highly sensitive and is described for zebrafish T-ALL, but it may be applicable to other malignant and non-malignant zebrafish cell types.
