Gold Plasmonic Nanosensors

Gold plasmonic nanosensors are nanoscale devices that use the optical properties of gold to detect and measure chemical or biological targets, making them valuable tools in bioengineering. When light interacts with gold nanoparticles or nanostructured surfaces, it drives localized surface plasmon resonance, producing an optical signal that changes when analytes bind to the sensor surface and alter the local refractive index. These sensors support label-free detection of biomolecules, pathogens, and cellular signals, often enabling rapid and sensitive analysis with small sample volumes. Their tunable optical responses and compatibility with functionalized surfaces also advance diagnostic platforms, biosensing, and point-of-care technologies.
