Thermal Sensitivity Testing

Thermal sensitivity testing is a method for determining how a material, cell, tissue, device, or biological system responds to changes in temperature, an important consideration in engineering reliable biomedical technologies. During testing, researchers expose the target to controlled temperature conditions and measure changes in properties such as viability, activity, mechanical performance, signal output, or function. These measurements can reveal temperature thresholds, damage, or performance limits and help distinguish reversible responses from lasting effects. In bioengineering, thermal sensitivity testing supports the design and evaluation of biomaterials, biosensors, tissue-engineering systems, and medical devices intended to operate safely under defined thermal conditions.

This manuscript describes the preparation of magnetic and thermal-sensitive microgels via a temperature-induced emulsion without chemical reaction. These sensitive microgels were synthesized by mixing poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm), polyethylenimine (PEI) and Fe3O4-NH2 nanoparticles for the potential use in magnetically and thermally triggered drug-release.

Here, we present an optimized methodology for producing mycelium-based composites (MBCs) from petrochemicals and polluting materials for thermal insulation applications. To become carbon-neutral and sustainable, biobased and compostable materials like mycelium bio-composite could be the solution. To determine if they meet the construction standards, several experiments were conducted.
